Our Philosophy
Guided by Scripture, Grounded in Love
Our aim at Deep Roots Biblical Counselling is to meet people where they are and help them view their struggles through a biblical lens. Living in a fallen world inevitably brings suffering and pain. Therefore, our goal is to gently point each child of God to the one who sees them, loves them, and holds them in their pain. No one is beyond God’s grace, and it is our privilege to help others find comfort, healing, and purpose through His Word.
Confidence in God’s Word
At Deep Roots Biblical Counselling, we hold to the authority, divine inspiration, and inerrancy of Scripture (2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:21).
What does that mean? We believe that God sovereignly guided each biblical author, incorporating their unique personalities, experiences, historical contexts, and individual circumstances while ensuring the integrity of his divine message. In essence, while the words of Scripture reflect the human authors' voices, they are fully God’s words. We further believe that the Gospel is transcultural; the message of the Bible transcends cultural boundaries and remains relevant to people from all walks of life, regardless of their background, nationality, or historical context. While the Bible was written in specific cultural and historical settings, its core principles and divine truths are timeless and applicable to all people, across all cultures and generations.
Our Commitment
We are committed to offering Spirit-led, Christ-centered counselling grounded in the unchanging truth of God’s Word. Our mission is to help believers like you embrace true freedom in Christ, grow in a biblical worldview, and endure life’s hardships with perseverance and hope.
How? To safeguard and strengthen counselling wisdom, we are committed to staying grounded in the love of Jesus and continually developing our biblical understanding through both formal and informal learning. This involves engaging with community and peer resources, and striving to ensure that our declared commitment to the church is lived out meaningfully rather than a mere profession of good intentions (Prov 27:17).
Right to Privacy
While professional ethics are important, Scripture calls Christians to an even higher standard when it comes to protecting information. In keeping with biblical love and respect, all information disclosed during counselling will be safeguarded in accordance with Proverbs 11:13; 16:28; 26:20; Psalm 15:2-3; Matthew 7:12; John 13:34; 1 Peter 2:17. At Deep Roots Biblical Counselling, we deeply value and uphold your confidentiality. However, in keeping with both legal and ethical responsibilities, may be required to share information if there is a risk of harm to you or others, or in cases of suspected abuse, especially involving a child.
Scripture speaks directly to the common challenges we all face—relational conflict, physical illness, financial stress, parenting questions, identity, loneliness, grief, and injustice. But it also offers profound insight into deeper struggles like anxiety, depression, abuse, addiction, temptation, sin, and death.
At Deep Roots Biblical Counselling, we build on the rich theological heritage of the Puritans, who recognized both the gravity of the human condition and the glory of God’s grace in Christ. By understanding our struggles through the lens of Scripture, we offer soul care that addresses the whole person - body and soul.
Rather than isolating surface-level issues, we seek to uncover the heart motivations behind them—tracing actions back to the thoughts, desires, and beliefs that drive them. In doing so, we help bring to light the ongoing influence of sin while pointing to the liberating power of the gospel to overcome it.
By integrating these principles, we aim to provide soul care that is both biblically faithful and practically effective, ensuring that the gospel remains central in guiding toward lasting spiritual growth and renewal.
